2016 Weir Vineyard Pinot Noir, Yorkville Highlands
Inviting, glamorous and lovely, as all Pinots from Weir Vineyard are. This vintage has a ying-yang of aromas; pine, dark berry, citrus rind, violets, white pepper, redwood bark, citronella, graphite, porcini and cherry compote. This beguiling wine is broad, deep, dense and quite plush, with beautiful fine-grained tannins and a very long and very delicious finish.
Weir is our most far-flung vineyard located in the Yorkville Highlands. The vineyard’s elevation (850’-1000’) and aspect place it squarely in the path of cold air flowing in from the Mendocino coast. The vineyard incorporates several soil types and the topsoil is thin, limiting vine growth and vigor, while promoting concentration in the resulting wines.
